Tucson

.

I apologize for the time it has taken me to publish the January installment of this blog. First, I was late because I was on vacation from Christmas through New Years. I spent most of that time in my studio writing music. I didn’t watch any news nor did I engage in any political, social, philosophical or any other type of debate. It was a time of relatively pure creativity, contemplation and peace. I spent Christmas Eve and Day with my family and some time with friends. I had the chance to get outside and walk around in the winter wonderland that is my home turf. I even had a chance to shovel some of the “wonder” a couple of times, but I don’t mind. It wasn’t a challenge like a blizzard anyway, it was a couple of gentle snowfalls, just a few inches in total and it was the fluffy stuff, not the heavier wet snow. It was more a matter of getting some fresh air than it was work. And when I was done, I was rewarded with a beautiful silence that always accompanies gentle snowfalls like these, especially in the evening.

Then the holidays were over and, because of the week off, I had to hit the ground running to catch up with work and my chores that I shoved to the side for vacation purposes. As far as my blog went, I had one ready to go and so I was resting easy on that score. I was all set to get back to “givin’ ‘m hell” and “tellin’ ‘m what for” and all of that. Then I heard about Tucson…
